Rail Wagon Maintenance and Train Inspectors

This course is available to employees of Rail Operators across Australia who carryout inspection and maintenance of Rail Freight Wagons or Passenger Cars.

Designed to be facilitated either as Wagon Maintenance and Inspection or Wagon Maintenance or Train Inspection only.

Usually delivered ‘on site’ however training can be carried out at our Chullora office with simulation exercises conducted at nearby sidings, by agreement with relevant rail operators.

On completion a Statement od Attainment will be issued for the modules covered.

Course content will include but is not limited to:

• Wagon types
• Wagon components
• Air brakes

10 working days, however it can be broken up to be completed over several weeks or to meet the client’s needs.

• Current RIW card
• Rail Operations Industry Experience

Plain and casual dress, enclosed shoes. (no singlets or thongs)

Participants will be required to pass theory and practical assessments to achieve competency. You will be issued with an ‘On Job Workbook’ which is to be completed by you under the supervision of an experienced Wagon Maintainer/Train Examiner.

On completion and when your employer considers you to have reached a satisfactory level of competency, the completed work book and work performance will be accessed and validated by an SCCRT trainer.

On successful completion you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment outlining each unit of competence
