Course Description
Nationally accredited training with a Statement of Attainment issued from TLI27121 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure from the Transport and Logistics training package.
This course is designed to teach operators of rail bound plant
Course discussion includes, but not limited to:
• Network Rules and Procedures applicable to track machine working
• Authority to travel and/or stable
• Pre-start/Post-Operational checks
• Access to and from site including on/off-tracking
• Protection requirements in an emergency situation
• Communication protocols
• Speeds and travelling procedures

Face to face: Two (2) days
On Job Workbook: Up to six (6) months

Requirements
• TLIF0020 Safely access the rail corridor (or equivalent)
• CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (or equivalent)
• Category 1 Medical
• Road Rail Plant Operator Role
• TLIB0012 Maintain and use hand tools (or equivalent)
• TLID0020 Shift materials safely using manual handling methods (or equivalent)
• TLIE1003 Participate in basic workplace communication (or equivalent)
• TLIF0025 Follow work health and safety procedures (or equivalent)
• TLIF2010 Apply fatigue management strategies (or equivalent)
• TLIU2008 Apply environmental procedures to rail infrastructure (or equivalent)
• TLIB2085 Apply track fundamentals (or equivalent)
Age Requirements
Persons over the age of 18 years old.
Dress Requirements
Full rail PPE required including:
• Steel cap, ankle-high lace boots,
• Long clothing, hi-visibility orange shirt,
• Hard hat,
• Safety glasses.

The Practical Assessment, at nearby sidings, will require participants to demonstrate how to:
• carry out a pre-start/post-operational inspection of a hi-rail vehicle
• safely on/off track a hi-rail vehicle
• competently control a hi-rail vehicle
