Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) Requirements

Due to the safety-critical nature of the rail network, it is essential that all workers have the ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English to a level that supports safe and effective performance in the rail environment.

To successfully complete this course, participants must:

Read and respond to written instructions, including safety and operational procedures
Complete a closed book Written Assessment, which includes written comprehension questions relating to workplace hazards, risks, and control measures
Verbally communicate in English with the Trainer and Assessor, including identifying various rail components and demonstrating understanding of key concepts.

📵 Please note: The use of translators, interpreters, or electronic devices (including mobile phones) during the course and assessments is not permitted.

If you or your employee are unsure about meeting the minimum LLN standards, SCRT offers an LLN Pre-Assessment several days prior to course commencement. If you choose not to undertake the LLN Pre-Assessment and attend the course, and the Trainer determines that your LLN skills do not meet the required standard, the full course fee will still apply.

Please contact us prior to enrolment if you have any issues or concerns regarding LLN requirements.
